chapter 8 (1)

5. Noel and Liam both upset (1996)

The following April when Noel, as the songwriter, received a further 125,000 in a publishing deal with Sony, Liam's simmering jealousy of his brother would come to surface. Oasis hadn't been created for money, it had been created to make good music, he whined. Why should his brother grow rich while he and the others drew wages?
`When I read Oasis is Noel's band it fucking sends me mad,' he stormed.
`It's no one's band. Take one away and there's none left.'
Noel, for his part, would be equally upset by Liam's resentful attitude. Didn't he understand the agony he endured while creating the songs? He didn't care about money. His brother was the person he trusted above all others, and here he was attacking him. It is a row that remains unresolved.

6.I’m absolutely convinced that Liam loves Noel more than anybody else (1996)

“They love each other, really. I’m absolutely convinced that Liam loves Noel more than anybody else, possibly even himself. As to who Noel loves, I don’t know.

Source: Owen Morris in The Word on the Street (Eugene Masterson, Mainstream Publishing, 1996)

Noel

7. You’re the fucking best, you are, the best there is. (1996), 1997

Noel, with real passion in his voice, to Liam : “You’re the fucking best, you are, the best there is.”

8. Dialogue in a dressing room, 1996

Liam: "Is this your dressing room, or mine? Or is it ours? Dad?"
Noel: "You'd better bleep off, mate"
Liam: "Yeah?"
Noel: "You'd better bleep right off."
Liam: "I'm going to sit over here'
Noel: "Right. You sit over there' '
Liam: "You'd better bleep right off."
Noel: "No, you'd better bleep right off."
Liam: "You'd better bleep right off."
Noel: "No, you better had - sort your head out' (Like Sooty and Sweep, Liam hides round the corner making a wanker gesture as Noel chats.)

Liam!
